Hoaxx FAQ & Rules Empty General Site Rules

Post by Bee Sat May 09, 2015 3:00 pm

  • Respect the Admins and Moderators
-Administrators and moderators are here to keep the site running smoothly, we know the rules by heart and what to look out for when people are posting. If a moderator edits your post, it was most likely due to a breaking of a rule. Moderators will tell you what you did wrong, and if the offense was great, will PM you a warning. Enough warnings and you'll get banned depending on how bad the crime was.
  • Spamming
-Spamming is the form of posting nonsense in order to annoy a certain person or group. This can include multiple posts in a row, gibberish, things that make no sense, or multiple links. Spamming also includes the abuse of BBC codes, this includes colored text, Bold/Italics, and the text size codes. Images and videos posted in the boards without a specific reason is also considered spam. Images and videos are allowed to be posted in the chat room as long as they are not linked multiple times.
  • Offensive Material
-While we do allow light sexual content, we do not condone posting graphic images/videos, or going in detail about real life persons. We also do not accept racial, sexist, bullying, profiling or anything else that could otherwise upset the well being of players. Players should not ignore another player, or refuse to trade/roleplay with them due to prejudices. Of course, blacklists and blocking are still allowed, just not for reasons listed here.
  • Flaming/Trolling
-Flaming/Trolling is baiting a person or persons in order to spark an argument. We like serious conversation, but please do not start a riot over it. Trolling is also the act of annoying a player by either pranking them, or in other ways, getting them to do something they really aren't comfortable with. Spreading false information is also a form of trolling, and can cause some problems among people.
  • Harassment
-We will not tolerate other players getting harassed in the chat room, forum boards or in PM's. Harassment can include bothering someone to do a roleplay with, attempting to get an item/gold off someone, and in general being a bully. Harassment can cause a person a lot of uncomfortable and awkward feelings, as well as an unwelcome feeling.
  • Chat room Rules
-The chat room is used for players to communicate freely as a sort of massive out of character experience. All rules apply to the chat room, however. You are allowed to speak in minor chatspeak such as ''brb.'' The chat room can also be used to discuss trades out of character, but please keep it to a minimum. If it's important, please take it to PM to discuss trades and roleplay replies. Discussion about current missions and roleplays are allowed however, don't be afraid to be open!

Hoaxx FAQ & Rules Empty How Hoaxx Works

Post by Bee Sat May 09, 2015 3:00 pm

To begin roleplaying in the great world of [world's name], you first must create a character, you can do this over in Character Creation, following the provided form or creating one of your own that's similar. After that, all you have to do is wait for someone tasked with watching over Character Creation to read and review your character. If it passes, you can begin your character journal over in the Journals board, following the similar set up of the example over there. It doesn't have to be much at first, but this will be your reminder and daily log of everything that goes on in roleplays and while you're out on missions.

Journals are a great way to keep track of your materials, character stats, and multiple other pieces of information. More information on Journals can be found in the example thread in the board marked Journals.

A large, important feature of Hoaxx is the date and time mechanic. It is completely ran by players, and must be kept track of by players and moderators. Whenever posting a reply, please mark what the date is in the corner. If you are unsure of the date, you can easily ask in the chat and someone will help you!

  • One day = ???
  • One Week = ???
  • One Month = ???
  • One Year = ???

After creating your character and your journal, you can begin by picking out a mission on the Missions Board, or join an existing member looking for a partner on their missions. Every mission requires two players to begin. If you want to start a mission you do not see another player currently looking for, you would start a new thread in the Missions Board with a title such as ''A Wolf's Heart - Need Partner'' or something similar. Than in the reply space, you would roleplay out your character looking for a partner. Hoaxx is very story based, everything including trading is done in your character's point of view, everything is a roleplay post instead of just talking normally. However, you can still do out of character conversation by doing ((insert message)) or another form of OCC. Once you have found one or multiple partners, you can head over to the location in which the mission starts in. A Wolf's Heart would take place in Woodpine so someone from the group would begin a thread in Woodpine titled something similar to ''A Wolf's Heart - Bob & Amelia.'' It would include the mission's name, as well as the characters involved in the mission. It could also just say the player's username instead of the character names.

When the mission starts, a moderator will be assigned to that particular thread, and will be the one giving out loot, gold as well as being the monster hunted. This is to avoid God-Modding. Moderators will post regularly, at least twice daily. If one moderator is busy that day, another will take their place for that day. The mission will end once the enemy(s) have been defeated, or if the enemy ends up defeating the players. The moderator will then take the role of the NPC who placed the mission and will hand out rewards to the characters.
(Please note, enemies and NPC's may act slightly different depending on the moderator roleplaying as them.)

Missions are the main of interacting with other characters as well as making gold and gathering materials. However you can also gather materials in the Gathering Spot located in every board in the World Map. The Gathering Spots are used to gather materials, find familiars, and interact with NPC's and other players. In order to use the Gathering Spots you must write a post in the point of view of your character walking around the area and looking. After, a mod will post any interesting happenings as well as a recap of what materials you have found. Sometimes an enemy may attack as well.

As well as Gathering Spots, you can also buy and trade materials in the Shops. Either by posting in the Trading Post, which are small shops set up by characters themselves, or in one of the NPC run stores. This is a good way of selling unwanted materials in order to get the other desired materials. This part of the site runs exactly like the rest of it, in where you have to post in your character's point of view.
(Gathering Spots and other loot mechanics are completely random, using a random generator in order to determine the loot.)

Missions are not the only thing one is able to do, there are also multiple skills of crafting, mining, fishing, and many other skills that will enable freedom, and more ways to gain Gold and materials. To start a new skill, you can post in a guild designed around that skill in the Skill Guilds in the Guild board. An instructor will teach you how to begin that skill and further it in training.

As well as Skill Guilds there are also player ran Guilds, where group missions, special perks, and multitudes of other features are. These guilds can end up giving some rarer loot when in missions, as well as an easier time in them. Guilds can also run tournaments and do sparring matches between characters, helping increase skills further. They also can have a specialized skill associated to the guild, such as crafting, mining, fighting, and any other skill added. Special guilds can have up to three skills attached to the guild.

Besides for missions, characters can interact in shops, taverns, and other places designed for out of mission roleplays. Players may also create a semi-permanent roleplay in any of the World Map locations, just title it something catchy, post who's in the roleplay as well as write in the first post that it is not a mission roleplay. These roleplays are considered free-for-all to a certain extent, and will not be eligible for random loot, due to it just being an interaction roleplay. If you would like the characters to change location, please contact a moderator and we will move your thread to another World Map location, and you can roleplay out the journey to the new location!

Hoaxx FAQ & Rules Empty Hoaxx-RPG & Misc RP Rules

Post by Bee Sat May 09, 2015 3:01 pm

  • Starting a Roleplay
-When starting a new roleplay, please title the roleplay something semi-creative. In the case of very small groups of at least four players, all the character or player names must also be listed in the title of the roleplay, or in the original post if the title is not long enough for all the names. In the case of Hoaxx missions, just title the roleplay of the mission as well as the characters included. For misc roleplays, it requires a title. Group roleplays that include more than four people are just required to have a title as well as a [Invite Only], [Open], or [Closed] tag to let people know if they can join or not. Invite Only is reserved for group roleplays that are recruiting certain people. Open means that the roleplay is open to everyone, and anyone can attempt to join. Closed means the owner of the roleplay has decided enough people have joined the roleplay and has closed it from newer characters. In the original post of Misc Roleplays there also must be a character form, background information, world building information, rules if it's a group, and anything else considered to be important to the roleplay.
  • Sexual Content
-Flirting, heavy petting and softcore content is allowed. However, for more graphic scenes of sex, that must be taken to PM's, e-mail or to an IM. Sexual actions should only be between two consenting players, and only should be between their characters. We do not condone players cybering or sexting between each other.
  • Cursing
-Cursing is allowed full-blown, no restrictions. Just don't drop the F-Bomb like you're writing an essay consisting of one word.
  • In Character and Out of Character
-In Character means that you continue to write posts in your characters skin, this is how most of Hoaxx runs, in the Shops, Missions, and World Map locations. Out of Character is used to talk as yourself, usually to discuss plots and ideas with your roleplay partner or just to discuss trades and the such. In the Misc Roleplay boards, you do not have to continue playing as one character, thus OCC is used most commonly there. In large group roleplays, there is a board used to discussing that roleplay in the Group OCC board.
  • God-Modding
-God-Modding refers to super-human characters that are considered unbeaten, true immortals that are undamaged from everything, and mortals that refuse to get injured when everyone around them is doing so. Super-human characters means that they are too powerful to be used, and can be abused a little to belittle all the other characters, this also applies to immortals that cannot be truly killed or injured. Immortals must have a way to be injured, and a rare case of death in order to be played. People that refuse to allow their mortals get a scratch during fights is also considered God-Modding as you are dodging injuries.
  • English and Literature
-Mistakes do happen, typos happen, but please refrain from using chat speak when roleplaying. Try to use proper English and grammar, however it is not always possible due to sometimes being on a phone, or miss clicks. If too many typos are in a post, a moderator might edit it and warn the player. Hoaxx and Misc Roleplays run off semi-lit writing. This includes at least two paragraphs minimum. Though we do fully understand writers block as long as the short replies are not constant, it'll be just fine. We like long posts, and posts full of details. Please go into as much detail as you can to give other players a chance to write just as much information.
  • Looking for Roleplays
-In the Missions board for Hoaxx, you can publish a thread looking for other characters to join your character on a mission. Minimum of two characters is required in order to start a mission.
-However, for Misc Roleplays, there is a thread you can post in with details on what you are currently looking for in a partner, which would include what you are comfortable with roleplaying out, as well as plots that you are most interested in doing. Other guide lines would be if there would be sexual content, graphic scenes of gore and violence, and the such. If you are looking for a romance roleplay, you would mention what pairings of genders you are most comfortable with such as male/male, female/male or female/female.
